The funeral proceedings of former President A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, who passed away on Monday, is being performed today.  Indias 11th President APJ Abdul Kalam passed away on Monday evening at a hospital in Meghalaya during delivering a lecture. He was 83. He collapsed while delivering the lecture at  Indian Institute of Management, Shillong, around 6.30 pm. Dr. Kalam, who is also known as the Missile Man of India,  had played a pivotal role in Indias Pokhran-II nuclear test in 1998. One of the most loved Presidents,  he was also known as the Peoples President. Kalam was awarded the Padma Bhushan and Bharat Ratna, and then he became the 11th President of India in 2002. He was born in  Rameswaram on October 15, 1931, to a poor family.He was taken to the Bethany hospital. He had suffered from a massive cardiac arrest, said Doctors. He was brought to the hospital at 7 pm and when he was brought to the hospital, there was no sign of life. Even he was taken to ICU to try and revive him but all went in vain. The Government will declare a seven day national mourning. The leaders even extended their heartfelt condolence on Kalams demise.
